Brave Queen Esther
A young queen finds the courage to speak up and save her people. Come and see how God can use one brave heart.
Esther was a kind and gentle girl, and one day King Xerxes chose her to be queen of the great land of Persia. She wore a soft, shining crown, and she lived in a grand palace with tall stone walls. But Esther kept a quiet secret in her heart. Not many people knew that she was one of God’s own people.
Esther’s cousin Mordecai loved her like a father. One day his face grew worried, for he had learned that a proud man named Haman had made a sad plan to harm their people. He sent her gentle, careful words. “Who knows? Maybe you became queen for a time just like this,” he said softly.
Esther felt her heart beat fast, for it was scary to go to the king before he called her. For three days she and her people fasted. Then Esther gathered her courage. “I will go,” she whispered bravely. “I will do what is right, no matter what happens.”
With a deep breath, Esther walked into the king’s bright throne room, and he held out his golden scepter to welcome her. Then, at a special feast she had made ready, her voice was kind and steady as she asked the king to keep her people safe. The king leaned close and listened to every word. Then he smiled, for he loved her, and he promised to protect them.
Because Esther was brave and trusted God, her whole people were kept safe and sound. Cheers and happy songs filled the land, and people danced and laughed together. God had watched over them the whole time, with a love that never lets us go.
Thank You, God, for staying close to me when I feel afraid. Help me to be brave and to do what is right.
