Jesus and the Children
Come and see what happens when little children run to Jesus. He opens His arms wide, because there is always room for you.
One sunny day, mamas and papas hurried down the road with their little children. They had heard all about Jesus, and they wanted Him to hold their little ones and bless them. Some children skipped, some toddled on tiny feet, and some were carried close. Their hearts were happy, because they knew Jesus was so very kind.
But Jesus’ helpers stepped in front of the children and shook their heads. “Jesus is much too busy today,” they said. “He does not have time for little ones.” They tried to send the children back down the road, away from Jesus. The little children looked up with quiet, wondering eyes.
Then Jesus saw what was happening, and it upset Him very much. “Let the little children come to me,” He said gently. “Do not send them away.” He opened His arms wide and smiled a warm, welcoming smile. There was always, always room for the children right beside Jesus.
“God’s kingdom belongs to ones like these,” Jesus told everyone with a smile. He loves little children with all His heart, just the way they are. You do not have to be big or grown-up to come close to Jesus. He is always glad and happy when you come near.
Then the children ran to Jesus, and He gathered them up in His arms. He held them close and rested His hands so softly on their heads. He blessed each little one with gentle, loving care. The children felt warm and happy and peaceful, snuggled right next to Him. And He loves you, dear little one, today and every single day.
Thank You, God, for loving little children just like me. Thank You that I can always come close to Jesus, who welcomes me and holds me near.
